Panic attacks can be very frightening and hit you without warning. They can make you feel dizzy, faint, hot, and give you palpitations, and even chest pains. You think you are going to die, and the more you panic the worse it becomes. However you can stop panic attacks quite easily with a paper bag.
During an attack you take in rapid, short and shallow breathes from the chest. This means that although you are breathing quicker, you are taking in less oxygen.and your levels of carbon dioxide in the blood have fallen. This is what causes the distressing symptoms associated with a panic attack. Breathing into a paper bag can stop panic attacks within minutes. This is because you are breathing in carbon dioxide, and this corrects the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body.
Worrying about getting a panic attack and spending time dwelling on the idea can increase your chances of suffering an attack as well as making it far worse if you do get one.
Stop panic attacks by accepting them, and telling yourself that the symptoms can’t harm you. You won’t die from a panic attack and you are safe. The attack will pass and nothing bad will happen. Even just carrying a paper bag with you can stop you from getting an attack, as you know that you will be able to stop it very quickly.
Don’t let panic attacks take over your life. Often it’s a fear of losing control, or embarrassing yourself in a public place can can be a trigger for an attack. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Take up meditation, and make sure that you get plenty of exercise.
